Enlivening a presentation

 What is MS PowerPoint ?

PowerPoint is a computer program for making cool presentations with pictures, words, and videos. You can make it colorful, add animations, and click through slides to share your ideas or tell a story. It's impressive and helps in school and other stuff.

Inserting audio file :

To insert an audio file into PowerPoint, you can follow these steps:

    1) In insert tab click on audio

    2) Click on audio on my PC

    3) Select audio  in "Insert audio" dialog box.

Recording Sound : 

To record sound directly within PowerPoint, you can use the built-in audio recording feature. Follow these steps:

  1. Open PowerPoint and go to the desired slide.
  2. Click "Insert" in the menu.
  3. Look for "Audio" or "Audio Recording" and click it.
  4. Use the recording toolbar to start and stop recording.
  5. The recorded sound will be inserted as an audio object on the slide.
  6. Right-click the audio object, select "Playback Options," and customize settings like auto-start or on-click playback.

 Customization options for audio:

  1. Playback Options: Right-click on the audio file and select "Playback Options" to configure how the audio plays. You can choose options such as "Play automatically" or "Play on click," adjust volume levels, and specify whether the audio should loop or stop after it finishes playing.

  2. Timing: If you want the audio to start at a specific time during your presentation, select the audio file, go to the "Playback" tab in the PowerPoint menu, and set the desired start time using the "Start" drop-down options.

  3. Trim Audio: If you want to use only a portion of the audio file, you can trim it within PowerPoint. Select the audio file, go to the "Playback" tab, click on "Trim Audio," and adjust the start and end points of the audio using the provided tools.

  4. Format: PowerPoint allows you to format the appearance of the audio icon on your slide. Right-click on the audio file, choose "Format Audio," and explore options to change the icon's size, color, and style to better suit your presentation design.

  5. Audio Effects: To enhance the audio playback, you can apply various audio effects. Select the audio file, go to the "Playback" tab, click on "Audio Effects," and experiment with options like "Fade In," "Fade Out," or "Volume Leveling" to achieve the desired sound effects.

    To insert a video file into PowerPoint, follow these steps:

    1. Click on the "Insert" tab in the PowerPoint menu.
    2. Look for the "Video" or "Video from File" option and click on it.
    3. Browse your computer to locate the video file you want to insert and select it.
    4. You can resize and reposition the video on the slide as needed.

     To add animation effects in PowerPoint:

    1. Select the object.
    2. Go to the "Animations" tab.
    3. Choose an animation effect.
    4. Adjust options like direction and duration.
    5. Preview the animation.
    6. Use the "Animation Pane" to customize the order and timing.

     For adding Multiple animation:

    To add multiple animation 1st click on add animation, in advance animation group on the animation pane. Then select animation

    What is animation pane ?

    The Animation Pane is a feature in PowerPoint that lets you manage and customize the order, timing, and settings of animations applied to objects on a slide. It provides a visual list of animations and allows you to adjust their sequence and timing for a more engaging presentation.

    How to reorder the animation effects ?

    1) Click on the animation effect in the "Animation Pane".

    2) Drag the effect up or down to reorder it.

    Setting the start option for an animation:

    Applying the start option for an animation allows you to control the timing and sequencing of animations in your PowerPoint presentation. 

    1. Select the object that has the animation applied to it.
    2. Go to the "Animations" tab in the PowerPoint menu.
    3. In the "Advanced Animation" group, click on the "Animation Pane" button. The Animation Pane will appear on the right side of the PowerPoint window.
    4. Choose the desired start option for the animation. There are different options available, such as "On Click" (starts when you click the mouse), "With Previous" (starts simultaneously with the previous animation), or "After Previous" (starts after the previous animation finishes).
    5. Click "OK" to apply the changes to the animation.

    Transition effect:

Transition effects in PowerPoint are visual effects applied between slides to create a smooth transition from one slide to the next.

  1. Click on the "Transitions" tab in the PowerPoint menu.
  2. In the "Transition to This Slide" group, you'll find a variety of transition effect options.
  3. Click on the desired transition effect to apply it to the current slide.
  4. Adjust the transition settings, such as duration or sound, using the options provided in the "Timing" and "Sound" sections of the "Transitions" tab.

  Slide Timing:

Slide timing in PowerPoint refers to the duration each slide is displayed before advancing to the next. To set slide timings, go to the "Slide Show" tab, click "Rehearse Timings," and progress through the slides while rehearsing your presentation. 

  • To set timing manually:
  1. In Timing group on the transition tab,uncheck "On Mouse Click" Option.
  2. In "After" field,Enter the desired time. 
  •  To set time automatically:
     To set slide timing automatically using rehearsed timings in PowerPoint:
  1. Rehearse your presentation by going to the "Slide Show" tab and clicking "Rehearse Timings."
  2. Progress through each slide, and the timings will be recorded.
  3. Press "Esc" to exit the rehearsal mode and save the timings.
